Suggestions for removing cone marks

Post by mcsinc »

I have 3M clear bra on the front bumper and the cone marks are near impossible to remove.

Without the obvious suggestion of "don't hit cones" , anyone have suggestions to try?

So far, with much elbow grease, I have tried to no avail:
- soap and water
- microfibre cloths
- magic eraser
- clay bar
- swirl remover wax/polish
- WD40
- brake cleaner (somewhat successful, but worried about melting the clear bar and removing paint)

I bought some of this:http://www.mothers.com/02_products/0922 ... slider1=10
so hopefully it works

Most everything I've heard of is a little aggressive.....

- goo gone
- bug and tar remover
- rain-x
- polishing compound
- isopropyl alcohol
- Mr. Clean magic eraser

How about Go-Jo hand cleaner with pumice?

I think the soft 3M gets roughed up by the impact and the black gets into the tiny grooves so it hard to get in deep to clean it.
I would call Mirror Image and ask.
I use Goof Off 2. It's ok on plastic.
Feel. Don't think.

I've had excellent results with Maguire's Cleaner Wax, but that's on paint. Not sure about the bra. Also, helpful hint - don't Google "clear bra" while at work
