So, you guys have been really helpful in finding the information I'm going to need to get started..
The next question is, is there a bench racing series that one can attended? The latest snowfall has me a bit bored and can't go get the car until next week now so not even any cleaning I could do..

UBC has a slush series through the winter.
VCMC starts in March, I think.
Otherwise GT6 and Dirt 3 on PS3 are my winter withdrawal med.

Was wondering if the "club" had an off season gathering spot where one could discuss future mods. racing plans and lie about past achievements.

I was originally part of the Kamloops sporty bike scene and trying to rekindle something here similar. so pub nights? coffee nights? BBQ's or some such.

Haven't touched a gaming console since the kid lost my memory card with GT3 99% complete

Scratch that. Invest in a PS4, or 3, and get Dirt3 and GT6
It's my secret weapon to prep for a race. Particularly Dirt3

It's only a secret because few (locally) believe it has much value. Oh well, their loss.

On that note:
You'll spend more on tires trying to get faster then you would on a good gaming console with limitless simulation seat time and an endless supply of tires that fall from heaven.
